a 1v1 ladder sounds more feasible.  takes less organization and you only need to coordinate 2 schedules instead of 4.  you don't need to play on a regular basis like you do on a league, just whenever someone feels like challenging another player.

Have both. 67 put forth the idea of 1 vs 1 to start with. I might even lift YellowFire's ban on the match server in honor of that.
