Updated Cheat Policy

Cheating and attempted cheating seems to be on the rise. Not just on ACME but on other Q2 servers and admins are reviewing policies regarding cheats.

In the past, we have only logged players that have cheats on their computer with no kicks or bans unless they used them in game. This will now change so it?s time you guys cleaned up your machines.

Remove all cheat/bot files from your Quake 2 directories, including all dll and exe files. Even if it is an old bot that cannot connect anymore, get rid of it or play somewhere else. Known cheat clients are also not allowed, Q2Ace for one instance. If you don?t know if a certain file or client is clean, just ask in a private message or e-mail.

We will give a short ?grace? period where you will only be kicked if these files are detected. Shortly after this, automatic bans will be implemented.

To restate our policy regarding ?trying out? cheats on the server; you will be immediately banned for such. If you want to try out or demonstrate any cheat, I highly recommend you doing it on your own server because we have absolutely no tolerance for such on ACME. There is one regular player who recently was ?blackholed? on all servers because of this and I would hate to see anymore join him.

Also, there are quite a few of us Q2 server admins that communicate and share info such as ban lists so if you cheat on one server don?t be surprised if you get banned on others.

I apologize to the vast majority of you that play honestly, it?s always the few bad apples that spoil the fun for many. We will try to keep the playing field as level as possible.
