Just for grins....the thread http://www.wormlair.com/forum/index.php/topic,3396.0.html reminded me of this:

I've been playing Quake since the beginning, starting on a server we used to run at work, and probably have been on most every CTF server in US at one time or another, and under one alias or another, as well as a few in euroland.  rolleyes I ended up on Sentry's for long time and then found Texas MatchMod and Lasermine and Railwarz and fell in with YOWZA, greider and a bunch of other slackerz. cheesy

I think it was sometime in 2003 when YOWZA and I decided to put up an L-Fire server and rented one from xgamers. There were fewer and fewer L-Fire CTF servers around is why we started ours.

DirtyWhore shut down his CTF server...(no, it was NOT due to some players moving to ACMECTF, as some people may lead you to believe.)  He and I talked many times back then so trust me on that. But it did have the effect of increasing number of players on our server....as well as the problems or administering  one too! angry

Due to crappy support, we moved to a dedicated box at Superb in December, 2004: http://www.wormlair.com/forum/index.php/topic,90.msg588.html#msg588

The Railwarz servers that ACME had for ages were still located at YOWZA's office and we left one of them going there until we got the dedicated box at Superb then made the move with Railwarz too.

Problems with connectivity at Superb made us move to Softlayer with combined servers in August, 2008: http://www.wormlair.com/forum/index.php/topic,3025.msg44646.html#msg44646

There have been many characters come through the servers, and the forum, most all of which were/are a joy to play with/talk to.

It's been a long, strange ride and thanks for all your support over the years!  ggnt grin

My Fav before ACME came around was Dallas CTF. They housed the QSA clan back in the day (kudos if you can tell me what it stood for).
We also had some nightly players from es, KT and other competitive clans.

Ahh the ole HPB /LPB days, although es-io, Jeffrey (can't remember what clan he was in) and I would always give the LPB's some good competition. Nothing like talking smack after chasing a lpb with the flag from the red base in outlands to rail his ass and return the flag on the ramp down to blue....

Speaking of jeffrey, i hated playing D in a match against him, he was a grapple monkey from hell and you knew if he got the flag it was a cap.

Q2 CTF was and still is a awesome fucking game, no other fps has ever captured so much of my time

If you're talking about the same Jeffery as I'm thinking, he was in 99VC

Everyone is all grown up now, it's tough to get a game going for more than a few maps these days.

I'm not sure that's accurate.

However, I will concede that Lydia has never grown up.
