Since I just plunked down some heavy c-notes for my latest computer investment, I want to make sure I keep this mofo cool when the summer 100 degree plus temps head this way.

I always hear about people monitoring their CPU and video card temps, and I found a program called SpeedFan that can do this for me. Anyone with any experience with this or other types of temperature monitoring software?

I'm looking at the case, and it's setup with two fans only, with the power supply fan at the top/rear, and a single case fan at the bottom/rear. One side panel has three grates for fresh air.

The video card I installed has a built in fan that blows directly on the card chip. I don't seem to see any problems with this current setup, as I can feel a slight bit of heat coming off of the power supply fan, and the case fan is blowing nothing but cool air out.

I was thinking of installing a small low cfm fan to pull extra air into the case at the lower grate, which would blow directly on the PCI and memory slots on the mother board. This would give me 1 pull fan and 2 push fans. I know this area on the mobo isn't one to generate excessive heat, but I'm thinking any extra cooling is just a bit of insurance. Any opinions?

Sounds good.
Looking at your post in other thread I'm assuming you're using the HP case and you're not overclocking. Really not much to worry about.
Adding 1 pull fan can't hurt anything but don't expect it to make temps inside the case drop dramatically. I wouldn't expect more than a 1-2 deg C drop, if that.

If you're really worried about heat (and not so much about looks), replace the side panel of the case with a air filter (like the one in your home air conditioner) of similar size. Maximum cooling without the dust, 'tis a good thing.

I was huge into cooling and really geeked out at one time on fans. Alka is absolutely correct unless you intend on overclocking heat these days is really not a huge issue. The reason to replace the side panel with a filter is obviously a larger surface area to draw from and unlike heat  being the problem these days dust and dirt will always be a problem.

Also look into the program Real Temp

http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/

FWIW, i'd trust Real Temp over Speedfan.
