MAPVOTING
«
on:
March 30, 2010, 07:29:33 PM »
I guess nobody else has noticed.
Specs dont appear to be timeout anymore. So we get 2 people playing a map and 15 specs. 8 people want to play a better map but are outvoted by the 9 specs who are afk. So we sit through 20 minutes of 2 players goofing around because afk specs have a vote-no voting power that outnumbers the people that want to play a good map.
Can we go back to the old way please

I agree with that. Around 8:15 pm there are about 18 people and 4 playing. Mapvote not passing not that it always will, but too many asking me to change map and I will not unless more want to play a map than there are already playing. As much as i would like to change the map, I also do not want to take the chance on having only 4 people play and screw up the map that 4 are already playing.
Not sure if the mapvote count or percentage can change or just maybe turn idle spec back on.
Thanks Tina for starting the thread on this.

Idle kick time is set to 5 minutes, just like it was before. This does not stop anyone from spectating games. It does require that they take action to input to the server so they don't time out and get kicked...this can be as simple as changing chase view, making comment to other specs in messagemode 2, etc. within the 5 minute limit.
I know this isn't a complete answer to people refusing to mapvote but it will drop the ones that go out for pizza 'n beer while still showing up as specs in game.

If everyone is counting on non-idle specs to vote out maps no one wants to play then why not address the real problem and clean up the map rotation a bit?

map rotation has been changed a million times. never helps...although if worm would listen to my advice and put more lock and warscene maps along with some other fun oldschool maps i think people would play those

Map rotation is not the "real problem" at all. But afk specs are a real problem.
If you have suggestions on a map rotation, there is a forum just for that purpose so use it instead of just saying "clean up the rotation." We're not mind readers.
