Hi admins, thanks for keeping q2 alive, just a couple of requests from an old-timer.

1. The spec timeout is very low, you can't watch even 1/3 of a match before you timeout/disconnect.  I can understand this in the past when you didn't want specs sitting on full servers but times have changed.  Please consider relaxing this one.
2. Map rotation.  At this point most people don't want to try new maps, or suffer a rotation that includes maps you like but want others to check out because they are neat.  Please tighten the rotation and try to keep folks playing instead of the mass influx/exodus that is going on now.

Thanks again for everything.

Worm, is #1 doable? I agree with him.
Map rotation has been changed numerous times. I get what you are saying but work has to be put into building a new rotation and then, sit back and take the flak about how the new rotation SUCKS.

@ #2, if people would grow a pair of balls around here and actually tried some of the different and 'new' maps they might actually like them...I can remember quite a few maps when people finally actually tried a map and ended up saying 'hey this map actually isnt that bad'. Duh.

#1 is doable and I shall make it so.

#2 is always a subject that no one can reach agreement on. No matter what we do someone is always gonna bitch about it. Map section of forum is always open for suggestions.

I agree 100% with CaKe.  grin

Dropping idle kick has caused other problems as posted in this thread: http://www.wormlair.com/forum/index.php/topic,3353.msg49461.html#msg49461

Sooooo.......

Idle kick time is set to 5 minutes, just like it was before. This does not stop anyone from spectating games. It does require that they take action to input to the server so they don't time out and get kicked...this can be as simple as changing chase view, making comment to other specs in messagemode 2, etc. within the 5 minute limit.

I think map votes not passing to to abstentions might be avoided by eliminating them... i.e. people who didn't vote don't count towards the total votes: 10 people on the server during a mapvote: 4 yes, 2 no, 4 abstain cause they're touching themselves - instead of vote not passing 4 to 6, vote passes 4 to 2.

Only problem is if a mapvote occurs during play and people playing don't see it. I guess an automatic "No" vote for people playing unless they enter otherwise would work to fix that. Not sure how mapvote coding goes into effect, so I'm not sure if it's possible to adjust in this way. Keeping things how they are (i.e. abstentions count as Noes) and automatically having specs vote yes until overridden would also work... people playing wouldn't have stop to vote no as abstentions would still count in this scenario.

I would also support that after a map ends, people who were spec that game do not get to vote for the next map - might encourage play on "middling" maps.
