I would like to come up with universal platform.. not by new "thing" but by combination of best part of each side. It's a place where a tdm meets a ctf spirit, and ctf'ers meets a fresh flash to smash :}

True. Different strokes for different folks.

No. Our No Tech server runs the very same mod, L-Fire2 CTF, as our pub. It runs many of the same maps, designed for CTF, but with a different configuration. Very few people use that server these days.

Again, good luck. I really don't know what you are expecting, but that is all I have to offer.

About maps You underlined that are designed for CTF.
Maps for UniCTF will be design for UniCTF so there no missunderstanding in my opinion between our outlooks.

newash: We're always open to a new "market" of players in CTF so you're all more than welcome to join in our servers now, as I said, there is nothing "universal" about TDM with flags....that isn't CTF.

This is kind of new value. Nobody knows if it will be playable or not, if it will be ultrafancy or infrashit.

Hmm, just realized I missed this topic while on my cruise.

This was tried before: they called it Quake 3 CTF, and it wasn't too popular. There is a reason that after my old clan switched to q3 we stopped playing CTF after a short time and went to Rocket Arena/Team Deathmatch (then folded, but hey).

Without grapple/techs, offensive options were limited to random quad and regen incursions, or bum rushes that left you open to counterattack. So, teams would play D for almost the entire game, then make a mad dash toward the opposing base... and whoever got luckier pulled it out.

With the advent of reliable voice comm (thanks Vent) tactics for this sort of mod might change quite a bit, but that's pure speculation.

And the learning curve for CTF for a tried and true DM or RA guy is not that steep. Hardest thing was getting the config/autoexec files squared away. Perhaps we can make an HTML page that can generate autoexec code for binds/aliases? Thought there were a few around back in the day.
