CL_MAXFPS -> 120 or something? Was trying to get it to where I could jump on the boxes in q2ctf05b but to no avail
RATE -> 15000 or whatever is default
Processor -> AMD Phenom 9600 Quad Core 2.30 GHz
Ram -> 3070 MB
Vid Card -> GeForce 8800 GT

I play on a 32" samsung TV 1080p with 1600x1200 Resolution (largest R1GL resolution offered that plays fullscreen) but I get little "pl" every once in awhile. It will sometimes go away and then come back 2 mins later. Other players on the server have noticed me warp in game. Any ideas?

I type "lag" in console, but it says 100% connection strength with 0.00% PL

Thanks in advance

Is this a normal tracert for you? What do you have to compare it with?

What processes are running in background?

Do you like gladiator movies?

Do you like gladiator movies?

[G]alka approves this question.

Plus, could be internet lag.. but looks more like computer lag.
So like worm says, you may have a rogue process that randomly sucker punches you in the pancreas. Just a shot in the dark though, could be lots of things.

Do you ever.. hang around a gymnasium?

Is this a normal tracert for you?

I think so. I ran a tracert the other night after our match with pretty much the same results IE: 90-110 final ping. I can run another tracert tonight to verify

What processes are running in background?

I ran MSConfig as sooooooon as I got this PC. It does notify my that windows stopped some programs from launching without authorization. Usually the only other thing running is vent, but that shouldn't bog down q2... I checked for processes using up CPU but it's usually just tskmngr, explorer, q2, & vent

I play on a 32" samsung TV 1080p with 1600x1200 Resolution (largest R1GL resolution offered that plays fullscreen)

vid_forcewidth 1920
vid_forceheight 1080
vid_restart

No help for the lag, but it'll look prettier.

I knew there was a way of doing it (I think Ell-Ka told me once) but couldn't remember it. Much apreciated.

You're probably stuck with those spikes.

At least yours are acceptable.  Mine last significantly longer and my ping spikes much higher.  ~600ish.

I still have not discovered any processes that I can terminate that remedy the situation.  At certain times of day it is worse or better.

I've come to believe it has something to do with the length of cable from my box to my house (this is a significant distance considering I'm sitting on 4 acres of land), and then the number of times the cable is split, going in all directions to all different televisions, most are HD with their own receivers, which means extra "boost" is needed to maintain signal quality.

This is my theory, and my buddies who work at Charter seem to agree.  There is not much that can be done to fix it other than yanking all the cable, reinstalling/burying high-threshhold cable, & re-cabling the house, and this may not even help, they say.  I'm still deciding if the cost is worth it as more than 75% of the time I am unaffected.

Is it worth your time/money to run a second dedicated line?

Any on the topic at hand, the forceheight/width seemed to fix the problem..  laugh
