Can't connect with Q2 quick install

hey, so recently instead of jumping around and searching through dozens of old/broken Q2 sites I downloaded this Quick Installer

I can connect to plenty of severs, but only the ACME CTF one kicks me

This is a pretty legit installer, seeing as it is stickied on a popular Q2 forum(not saying much since it is q2 but you get the idea) but it was even on ESReality, which is like the hub of all things competitive Quake.

So why is this not allowed, even though it is legit? and I really don't feel like spending hours and picking apart pak files and going through my baseq2 folder when this works on every other server I have tried to connect to.

That will take you to the download page, which will get you started.

Download/Install: q2-3.20-x86-full-ctf then WORMpak.zip (put the pak file in your ctf directory, you can rename it pak3-9, but I think r1ch changed this feature and as long as the file ends in .pak it will be recognized)

Then head over to r1ch.net for the anti-cheat you need.

Download/Install that file. Make sure the original q2.exe is replaced with r1q2.exe. Connect through r1q2.exe (if you use gamespy or whatever tell it to connect through r1q2.exe) and you'll be fine.

Also, make sure your name is not Player (default name in the config) because it is not allowed. So, if you can't connect, try typing in the console (` button) name newguy (or whatever) and you should be able to connect.

You can also find pak files on the acme site if you find them necessary to play. However, the 3 files I have listed above is enough to get you started playing on the acmectf server.

To add to that....

gunjack...the "installer" with files you downloaded are not original. That site is primarily for TDM, not CTF. And it appears the installer does not include anticheat...dunno, I haven't checked it out.

I don't know what servers you have been joining, probably ones that do not require anticheat or where it is optional...or they don't check files. We are anticheat required and I admit this does cause a bit more effort on players part to get everything in order...but you can rest assured that the playing field is as level as possible.

Although we do allow a number of custom paks, there could be some models/sounds/etc in those paks that we do not allow. For some of paks/files that we allow you can check our downloads page on http://acmectf.com/

i did this, im stuck tho. when i click r1q2 it says "couldent load pics/colormap.pcx  Would you like to debug?" Any input as to what i need to change to fix this?

R1Q2 must be started from the quake2 root directory and pak0.pak must be in that directory. pics/colormap.pcx is in pak0.pak in both root and ctf directory. Do NOT copy one pak0 to the other...they are not the same!
