I'm not really sure what your point is.  Americans tried to take over parts of Canada that were controlled by British colonies.  It was defended by the Indians, Canada, and the British.  You seem to forget the British were also trying to take over parts of America, which were stopped by the Americans.  Had the Canadian army not bought off Indians and had British help, America easily could have just marched in and taken the land.  All this considering America had been independent for what, 20 years?  The British were able to finance the war with no problems.  You go on to say that America had more people, but you fail to mention that the British actually have a MUCH larger army.  The majority of the Americans fighting were merely militia, because they were fighting for their freedom.

Are we talking about the same war here? America was supplying France, who was in a war with Britain at the time, as well Britain was fighting in the Spanish war at this point as well. America then took it upon themselves to try and take over Canada as it was a British Colony that ran on its own but still followed the monarchy because they were not happy with Britain cock blocking them. Very few British militants were involed in the war of 1812, most of the fighters were indians and already settled french and british ie: canadian citizens. Upon the American forces invading, they were fended off at which point counterattacks were planned against the Americans who had many more numbers in the first place when attacking Canada. ie: you attacked our parliaments buildings, we burned down the whitehouse. Your pointis moot about American militants, wtf u think most of Canada was? Guns a blazing Brits? I really dont think so.

Point, America tried and failed against a smaller more organized army, and even to this day, that is how Americans are recognized in war, not for their battle prowess but their numbers and technology. Now dont get me wrong, Americans do have a decent army, they just arent the best fighters in the world given their status as a super power in the world. Many historians believe Canadians to be a stronger force due to their ability to fight and not because of their numbers and technology (ww1 and ww2). Same reason why your special force units like the green berets, delta force etc. are ranked below the Canadian JTF2 in world affairs, not to mention troops from the american army are sent to Canada for training with the JTF2 elite force. Canadians are just better at it.

Is this so that when you come to America you get more money for your dollar and you can afford a better hotel?

Or are you simply happy that now Canadian merchandise will cost more in the USA making your products less competitive here? did you know that having a weak currency is strong for the economy by making that countries products more competitive (i.e. cheaper) in foreign markets?  

If you're just happy that you can get more US$ for your CA$ now, then be happy. if, on the other hand, you think this matters for some other reason then I'd love to know what it is because i could use a good chuckle.

If you know anything about economics and investing, and the sub-prime lending market that completely crashed and how the housing market for the lower class citizens of America will not be able to get loans because of lack of equity and assets, they will look to Canada for equity loans, and since our interests rates will increase due to the Canadian dollar increasing (which sucks) the money that will be made from your market crash will in the end benefit our economy and GDP will continue to grow at an excellent rate including our natural resources (our oil which is our biggest commodity) bringing it up to about 3.5-4.5% in growth a year, should the markets hover around like this for a while.  

next time you open your mouth, know what you're talking about before you make yourself look like a dumbass again.

Also, what does it matter that 1$US=1$CA?  They are arbitrary currencies and amounts like the yen that move against each other.  1:1 is no 'magic' number here.  You have not surmounted some major obstacle here.

Stop fucking up, because at this rate, Alberta cannot keep up with the boom. It]s already hard enough to find someone to work in a department store/fast food restaurant.  Just stop it already and let us fill these job titles. The freaking oil companies have projected to keep us busy in Alberta for the next 5-10 years, that's roughly drilling 500 wells a year in Northern Alberta alone, we do not need to create more work here as there is enough already.
