maybe I will reply after all, thanks to the faggot instigators dk and rage. for your info degen, i don't believe CTF was dead in 2001 and I don't think Quake2 as a game is dead yet. i was better than you when I came on the scene, even without knowing what a grapple or a tech was, I was better than you before you "left" the game, and I'm better than you now, I'll also be better than you in 2057 even if I take 50 years off. you're in the q2 top 5 of so-called "good" players who quit in the middle of a game when they're losing. i'm sorry, but if I'm playing basketball outside and getting whooped, I don't just walk off the court. you gain a reputation of being a puss by doing that.


i know, i get angry too when a newcomer gets the upperhand in one moment, but I smack them down the next moment in only ways a q2 veteran can. you didn't "quit" because you were bored, you "quit" because you were tired of getting your ass kicked, and seeing players who were better than you get EVEN better. you were never in the spotlight, son, like my previous post explained, you just tried to hang around people IN the spotlight.

come on now sly, you're claiming fame about a game i dont even play anymore, or havent played on a regular basis in 5 years, yes you are better then me now, why, because i dont play q2 at all anymore, its not hard to see, congratz, ur finally on a level i was over 5 years ago. As for quitting in the middle of games, when i have done this? i dont up and leave matches, ive done it on a pub, not because im winning or losing, but rather i have something more important to do, like work,play hockey, or better yet, watch tv. Just remember sly, it took u twice as long to even get near a level i was at, and your game is still just a pub, atleast when i played it was against skilled people and not 18 retards crammed into a map and spamming rockets and grenades.

anyway, this is very true of people leaving, i was one of them. when netdoor died, i just quit for good, or i thought, then last year i dug up q2, and started playing again, and realized i didnt lose much skill wich i can easily gain later on, so now q2 is the only game i play. and its nice to see a community that still lives on, and respects each other.

Don't know about that famous pickup but i can tell you that the one and only time i saw SLY play a match game he was far from wearing the weak pub hero outfit you try so hard to put onto him.

I don't know about the score, but I do know that he wasn't a very good team player. He wouldn't do what the leader of the team told him to do, and tried doing things on his own. That works well and good in pubs, but taking on 5 players who know what thier doing, and sly got shutdown. This is not ment to be smack, just calling it as I see it.

PS I don't really think 1v1's count for much in a team game. I played Vim when I was HPB (300+ ping) and he beat me 8-6. I was very happy with that score but others (*cough* slasher *cough*) tried to say that Vim wasn't trying.....

i wasn't born yesterday. even the suckiest sport teams can defeat a very good team. it's what you call an "upset". nice "list" though. it doesn't mean shit. it means about as much to me as the list of people yellowfire's defeated 1v1, which you are on by the way, but it was your girlfriend that was playing of course, lmao.
like you said, i don't know most of those ctf players, but what i DO know is that when I watch the olympics, I see athletes set new records all the time. why? because people get better. and what was considered good years ago, is now considered average. so don't pull some stupid list of players you beat out of your ass, all i know is maybe ONCE of of the ten times you played them, and pretend it's something.

does an actor or musician act in the same movie or sing the same song every single time? they wouldn't win any awards for that, that's for sure. they lack what you call "range". i havent played alot of match games, MAIN reason being you guys play the same map OVER and OVER again, and when you do change the map, it's to bleteys. is it fair to say those 2 maps are the favorites of most of those on the match? yes. and it's also fair to say people tend to play well on their favorite maps. what makes cacophony and bleteys that much MORE of a ctf map, than any of the other ctf maps? and to think, those were actually were actually a couple of my favorite maps back in netdoor days.

i think they should just combine both servers. let every game be a pickup, and the map automatically changes after each game. we'll see who the real players are then, right?

match games to me now, because of the above, are boring and dull, and very predictable. also, very tense, i play this game to have fun. what's to stop the most useful techs from spawning on one team's side of the map, and that team dominates the other team full of players who are just as good? nothing. this is l-fire ctf.


that being said, out of all the match games I've played, I'm gonna say maybe about 20, or maybe more. I most definitely don't have a losing record.

it's getting really annoying the way some of you put match games on a pedastal. is everyone that plays on the pub a noob? no.  is everyone that plays in these match games a veteran? no. is the pub server always full? no. is it possible to have a small game on the pub with mostly good players? absolutely yes. so don't think your the shit because i prefer to join the pub and just jump into the game, rather than connect to the match server, and listen to a bunch of male divas, and maybe possibly get picked if someone's in the right state of mind, or if I kiss the right ass, or not speak my mind.
