Ok, here's how this is going to work. I noticed a post about doing capture times with highscores. I decided I would take the time to admin it. If you guys want a map added, let me know. This is for fun, but also the more you try to get a HS, the more practice you will get with the grapple and improve your skills. I recommend everyone try and have a good time. GOOD LUCK!

PS - if you (such as hops) have already uploaded fast cap times on the ftp, please reupload or move your files to the new folder. More convenient for me.

Rules:

1 - No Screen Shots only demos.
2 - The demo must be recorded on a registered server - acme or tastyspleen (that way no timescaling happens on a private server or a less cheat protecting pub server).
3 - Upload the demo to the FTP (http://ftp://66.36.243.128:2121 - user: acme / password - there is no password) under the folder CapTimesHS, or email it to me (tdawgg422@hotmail.com).
4 - When uploading make your demo name - your name, map, and time. Such as Twitch-ctf1. (if file extensions are on, it would be Twitch-ctf1.dm2) NO SPACES IN THE DEMO NAME.
5 - This is grapple/strafe jumping aka NO ROCKET JUMPING.

How to Record a Demo:
1 - Before doing your run, type record Flagrun1 in the console, the demo begins recording.
2 - After your run, type stop in the console, the demo stops recording.
3 - Please only record a max of 3 tries per a demo. After 3 tries, simply type record Flagrun1 (repeat steps 1-2). This records over the old demo and makes the demos smaller and quicker. Remember, I want your best time.
4 - Demos are saved to C:\QUAKE2\ctf\demos. At least for me they are. In any case, go to your Quake 2 folder, then CTF, then Demos. You will then find your demo with whatever name you recorded it as.

How it works:

1 - PM me that you have uploaded a demo or emailed me a demo.
2 - I will review your demo and record your time.
3 - If you make a HS time, I will add your name under that map with your time and a link to your demo.
4 - If your time gets beat, you move down a spot, so keep trying for faster times.

How to Watch a Demo:

1 - Right click the link next to the demo you wish to view. Click save target as.
2 - Save the file in C:\QUAKE2\ctf\demos.
3 - Open Quake2 in the ctf mod (ie connect to Acme CTF Kick Ass Match) once connected, open the console, and type demomap h0ps-caco.dm2 or whichever demo you wish to view that you have downloaded.
4 - Watch, Learn, and Improve.
5 - Get the number 1 time.

Should I remove your McShminley Base Capture then? I guess the only option for ctf1 and lfctf7 are that they can be made privately (allowing the fps to be changed) and I will just have to review them to check for cheating. Plus, once I post the demo (if it even makes a HS) others will be able to watch and decide if a cheat was used or not. I think that will be ok for those two maps though. All other maps need to be recorded on acme or tasty though.

T!, is a player only allowed one HS per map?

ie., you get 14.9, 15, 15.1, 15.2, and 15.3 on q2ctf2 and the nearest anyone else comes is 15.5...
Do all 5 spots belong to you?

Is this a real question? Or an attempt to help you bump this thread? hmmm
