There are also these setting to play with in r1q2: m_directinput

0 (Disabled)
1 (Enabled (buffered))
2 (Enabled (immediate))

Enable DirectInput for mouse movement. DirectInput provides smoother mouse response and removes any mouse acceleration. If enabled, buffered mode ensures every single mouse event is reported to R1Q2. Immediate mode takes a 'snapshot' at the moment input is required and thus may miss very quick button clicks or other fast actions, but may be more responsive on slower PCs.

and: m_fixaccel

0 (Disabled)
1 (Enabled)

Enable a 'fix' for the mouse acceleration changes that Microsoft made on Windows 2000 and higher. By default, mouse acceleration is enabled on Windows 2000 or higher which is the opposite of what happens on earlier OSes. Enabling this fix attempts to remove the acceleration. The default value is enabled if the OS is detected to be Windows 2000 or higher, disabled otherwise. Use of DirectInput is recommended over this setting.

Note that if you use m_directinput any normal mouse cvars, like m_filter & m_fixaccel, will be ignored.

i found this quake guy revilla's website way back when and have used alot of his configs settings

set bob_pitch "0" // These five commands really make a difference. They stop you
set bob_roll "0" // bobbing and weaving as you walk which makes aiming easier.
set bob_up "0"
set run_pitch "0"
set run_roll "0"

not sure how significant this really is

other good settings he posts are

set gl_polyblend "0" // Makes water clearer and stops you seeing red when being hit.

set gl_modulate "5" // Brighter surroundings. Easier to see in dark.
set gl_flashblend "0" // Makes water clearer and stops you seeing red when being hit.

does windows acceleration affect the mouse in q2?..im pretty sure ive turned it off on my system

Yes it does, and that's why all the newer engines have some cvar to turn off mouse acceleration.  Read my post, right above WORM's Smiley

Those bob* and run* settings are for singleplayer only, IIRC. The other settings are legit Smiley
