Is it worth picking up q4 for delta?

If your computer is already up to spec, I'd say yeah.

If you have to pour money into hardware upgrades just to be able to play it... ummmm,, I dunno  rolleyes

I like it.
It's really fast paced, much like Q2ctf.

I grapple quite horribly in Q2, but in Q4 it's alot easier to grapple. I'm still not sure if thats a good thing or not?

For me, Q4 is going to be something to do when I'm not playing Q2, not the other way around.
Here recently, there have been many times when the pub is full for an hour or so. Hell the other night I took a screenshot because in HLSW it showed the pub at 24/24 slots and match at 18/18 slots!! It brought a tear to my eye, maybe two.

So ya, I'll probaly play both at the same time, but never phase Q2 out.

It's like (here comes another shitty alkanalogy)..
Going to Red Lobster and eating those delicious free garlic-cheese biscuits until your meal is ready. Then they bring out your $40 lobster, salad, crab legs and whatever else. Do you send those biscuits back with the waitress just because your fresh, new lobster is on the table?
Hell no!!!! Ya keep going back to that biscuit basket baby!!!!!

But anyway, yeah Deltactf is pretty cool  grin

rage, i really think it's worth it, fast paced different but the same. fun maps, and some maps that are ok. Playing last night w/ alka, wake, goodspeed and a few others from the q2/q3/q4 community it was a blast! I want all q2 players that have a pc that can run q4 to pick it up install it, install the 1.3 release patch then download Delta!!! good times

Just got it setup, the grapple is great - reminds me of the offhand laser hook just seems a little faster!

One problem I have, seems to be related to my graphics card.  Seems like everytime the flag comes in sight my fps goes to 0 and everything runs extremly slow.   I have to look down to get the flag out of view and everything speeds up again, I turned off all the advanded options settings for graphics in the settings but haven't tried anything else.  I have the Radeon 9800 Pro with the latest driver...

Anyone else heard of or have had this problem yet?

I agree with Legend.. 'twas fun last night.. And a close game if I recall?

Bea, I havn't experienced that problem myself.
I'm running 2 6600gt's in SLI so I really have no advice for ya  undecided

But I really need to get a good soundcard because using the onboard sound is reeaalllyyy crappy for Q4. Hearing is just as important as seeing in an fps game, and onboard sound is a no go.. I repeat,, a no go.

Try putting "set image_usePrecompressedTextures 0" in your config.

Yeah, that's why I do my big downloads at 5 a.m. when no one else is trying, I get 450+mbps transfer, whereas during high traffic times I may only see 330-350.
