Now to sex toy, if you were to ask "why does God let bad things happen to good people?" then I'd give you a response based on my beliefs. You said that he does let them happen and therefore he is not all powerful. This is an attack and very much so not a question. I'd love to answer the question but you have to ask it and ask it without a hardened heart. Not the case so none the answer.

I still have seen no constructive rebuke to my arguments, only evasion and anti-communist rhetoric - see my "the sky is blue" digression several pages back for my defense on why i do not support the mass murder of millions just because i happen to agree with stalin on this one point.  i could have just as easily quoted voltaire's "e'crasez l'enfame!" to achieve a similar point. 

When i ask how god allows bad things to happen to good people, I am not attacking christianity.  i honestly don't see how it can be taken as such.  how does such a question apply only to your religion and not 99% of the others in the world?  try to take your defensiveness down a peg or two. 

to repeat, i was not attacking christianity - most of the major world religions ascribe to the "god is good, god is great, god knows all" mentality, but i just don't see how this can be the case.  Still, neither recon nor peewee has made any attempt to tackle this point, probably because it brings about internal conflict that they'd rather not face. 

Someone a few pages back even advised that I begin to believe before the rapture comes.  what kind of hollow faith would that be?  that's like a bad kid pretending to be good during december so santa will bring him presents.

To correct you for a quick second worm - i did not declare god to be dead.  i am not an atheist.  i do, however, believe that god does not exist in the form or capacity that i as a christian was raised to believe.

Why is it that when I'm right, I'm so right that it hurts. I really should have ignored everybody and gone on my way. First of all the only thing missing from this whole thing to make it a typical conversation on christianity is nobody claimed to be christian and gay at the same time.


I've brought the entire conversation back to square one several times. Worm continually changes the direction and then accuses me of it. However I'm going to ignore it like I suggested.

Now here's what happened. Dill qouted stalin. Dill described religions as oppressive organizations. Previously and probobly before most of us were born, save worm, Joseph stalin tortured, persecuted, and killed through labor camps christians. Mao, also a communist, killed lots and lots and lots of christians mostly directly by orders being handed down to the soldiers. Then everyone here defended communism and Dill. Once again  ARE YOU INSANE

O.k. o.k.. Nevermind. This is starting to hurt my head how hard it is to prove to this board that communists persecuted christians. Even with references you guys don't believe me. It's also hard to get accross that it's not very appropriate to qoute stalin and then accuse someone else of exactly what he did. Whether it's true or not this is a very very dumb idea.

no one here is defending stalin.? accept that.? i cited stalin because i agree with his idea that religion brings hope to the hopeless.? here's an example:? no one wants to die, i think we can all agree on that (i'm pretty sure even stalin didn't want to die - omg you have something in common with him - COMMY! ) .? we have it hard-wired into our brains to try to survive at any cost.? how do we emotionally cope with the horrific inevitability of death?? we say that it's god's will that we die, and that we're headed to a better place.? yes, it's religion to save the day and ease our minds.? the idea of afterlife is nothing but a coping mechanism to help us deal with the fact that death is a fucking scary thing, and we have no way of dealing with it without creating another chapter to allay our fears.? whether this be heaven, or reincarnation or whatever, it's all in place to make us feel better, like maybe death isn't so bad after all.? to top it off, this afterlife idea has doubled as a crowd control mechanism:? be good or you'll roast in hell for eternity, or you'll be born again as a shit-eating beetle.? please.?

maybe i'm speaking in terms of christianity more than i speak of the other religions, but since it's the one i understand the best, i have the most examples to support my points at my fingertips.? this is in no way a stalinesque attempt to persecute you as a christian.? get over the stalin thing.? i used a three word stalin reference in my first post and you've used that as an excuse to ignore every other legitimate point that's been made on this thread.? open your eyes and read the rest.

i just found this one buried deep on page 5.  i have seen several interviews with the president in which he is asked a question to the extent of "what is it like to take a country to war knowing that there will be american casualties?"  his response invariably contained the phrase "i talked to god" in there somewhere.  he was asking god for advice, probably to ease his mind from the fact that he's sending our kids into certain death.  if this is how you're accusing me of politicizing this discussion, fine - just because i cited a modern political figure doesn't mean i'm trying to push a political agenda.  my only agenda is getting answers to questions that you continue to ignore.
